Disney Meet the Robinsons Meets its Match
March 31, 2007

From the Mouse Lounge Podcast - by Gary Chambers

Meet the Robinson's Disney's sophomore CG entry, Meet the Robinson's opened Friday to mixed reviews and tepid numbers. The 3D comedy pulled in $7.7 million Friday, way behind Dreamworks' Blades of Glory at $12.5 million.

The Rotten Tomatoes website calls the film, "fresh" at 67% on the Tomatometer, but even the positive reviews criticize the film for being built by committee and not knowing when to slow down and take a breather. It's being shown on over 3400 screens nationwide.

March 31, 2007

From the Mouse Lounge Podcast - by Gary Chambers

Finding Nemo Sub While dozens of websites are predicting a preview of sorts of Disneyland's new, "Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage", Disney is holding fast to its June 11 opening date. It is however exceptionally rare for the Company to open a new attraction without offering a first look to Annual Passholders and other dignitaries. Keep watch on websites such as Mouseplanet.com and Disney boards such as disboards.com for the most recent rumors.

Tarzans Treehouse a Step Beyond Disneyland Guests
March 30, 2007

From the Mouse Lounge Podcast - by Gary Chambers

Tarzan's Closed Treehouse Perhaps (for once) beating a lawsuit to the punch, the walk-thru attraction, "Tarzan's Treehouse" was abruptly closed last week. The company cites safety concerns and castmember literature does not indicate a re-opening until 2008.

The atraction was re-themed from Swiss Family Robinson to Tarzan only seven years ago, but the aging infrastructure is decades old and may very well be showing signs of the wear millions of stomping feet inflicts.

Disney Launches New Family Web Site
March 16, 2007

From the Associated Press

The Walt Disney Co. is launching a new Web site aimed at moms who are increasingly turning to the Internet for answers to everything from problems with teething babies to financing college. The new site, Disney Family, is a departure for the media conglomerate, which has primarily launched Web efforts to promote its own brands and products, keeping strict control over content and presentation.

By contrast, the new site is a one-stop site for parents, especially mothers, providing everything from Internet search to user-generated articles on key topics such as education and food, and, eventually, a "ParentPedia," a compilation of information on 1,000 topics that can be expanded by users.

Disney hopes to make money from selling advertising and from sponsored search, text ads that appear next to search results.
